FRANCO CALLS MILITARY BALLOT WAIVER A DISGRACE

Lt. Col. Candidate Wants Military Votes Counted

Worcester, MA…Today Paul Franco, Republican candidate for State Representative in the Thirteenth Worcester District, sharply criticized the Department of Defense’s waiver for counting Massachusetts military ballots. He wants to move the primary date to accommodate our military service members.

“This is an utter disgrace. Our military men and women are putting their lives on the line to defend our freedoms, but we deny them their right to vote. This is a sad day for the state of Massachusetts,” said Franco. “We have an obligation to count these votes and to fix the system so these brave people are not left out of the election process.”

Lieutenant Colonel Paul J. Franco just came off active duty as a US Army Reservist. He has been working as a Soldiers’ Counsel at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, DC, for the past year as a mobilized US Army Reservist. His duties were to represent those soldiers injured during the war to ensure they receive the appropriate amount of compensation before being medically retired or separated.

As the next State Representative, Franco will file legislation to move the Primary date so that the Secretary of State has enough time to send ballots to military members and they can return them in a timely fashion.

“We cannot deny our military personnel their right to vote. I plan on fighting for them,” said Franco.

Besides being an officer in the US Army Reserve since 1980, Franco has lived in Worcester for 22 years where he has practiced law. He has worked as an attorney with the Law Offices of Joseph J. Cariglia for the past 10 years. Franco has also been active within the community serving on the West Tatnuck Elementary Parents’ Advisory Council, Christ the King Church Parish Council, and as Director of Tee-ball and AA Boys Baseball Leagues for 2008-2009 with the Jesse Burkett Little League. He has also coached and served on the Board of Directors for the St. Peter’s Church basketball league and he has coached youth soccer in Worcester since 1994.

Franco has been married to Mary Ann Franco for nearly 27 years and they have six children, ranging in ages from eight to 25. All of his children are or have attended the Worcester Public Schools.

CARD ENDORSES FRANCO

Independent Candidate Drops Out and Throws Support Behind Franco

Worcester, MA…Today Paul Franco, Republican candidate for State Representative in the Thirteenth Worcester District, proudly announced that he has received the endorsement of independent candidate Bruce Card.

“I am extremely honored to have Bruce’s support in the upcoming election. His endorsement shows that I have broad base appeal,” stated Franco.

Card has been an independent candidate for this open seat. He has been running on a platform of fiscal responsibility and accountability. Due to family commitments, Card is withdrawing from the race and joining Franco’s team.

“I like Paul’s goals of reviving the economy, restoring integrity to Beacon Hill and fighting for fiscal discipline within the state budget. They mirror my views. I especially respect his years of service to our country in the U.S. Army Reserves,” said Card.

“I looked at all the other candidates before making this decision. Now more than ever before we need a person with strong leadership skills. That’s why I am proud to endorse his candidacy today. Paul Franco is the best person to be our next State Representative,” stated Card.

“We have only been in this race for a short time, but our message is really resonating with voters. People have had enough of politics as usual. I want to go to Boston to fight for this district, bring about fiscal stability, and create a more business friendly climate. Bruce’s endorsement and support is a huge boost to our efforts,” said Franco.

Franco’s efforts were so successful that over 70-percent of the soldiers he represented received an increase in their benefits or managed to be retained in the Army. He was recently awarded the Meritorious Service Medal by the Northern Regional Medical Commander, Major General Carla Hawley-Bowland, for his “unwavering professionalism, commitment.”

Besides being an officer in the US Army Reserve since 1980, Franco has lived in Worcester for 22 years where he has practiced law. He has worked as an attorney with the Law Offices of Joseph J. FRANCO KICKS OFF DOOR KNOCKING CAMPAIGN

Candidate Making House Calls

Paxton, MA…Today Paul Franco, Republican candidate for State Representative in the Thirteenth Worcester District, announced that he has kicked off his door knocking campaign in Paxton.

“It is very important to meet voters face to face,” stated Franco. “I am running for State Representative to serve the people of Paxton and Worcester not the Beacon Hill insiders. I want to meet with as many voters as possible over the next 83 days to discuss my ideas for creating fiscal responsibility within the state budget, a lower tax burden and reviving our economy.”

Franco believes that visiting voters at their doors is the best method for opening a dialogue on the serious issues confronting our district and state. He plans to door knock straight through until November 2nd.

“It is important that the people of the district know that they have direct access to their elected leaders. That’s why I am going to their doors. I plan on wearing out multiple pairs of shoes,” said Franco. As the next State Representative, I will have an open door policy for meeting with constituents.”

On another campaign matter, Franco is still the only candidate to sign the No New Taxes pledge.

Lieutenant Colonel Paul J. Franco just came off active duty as a US Army Reservist. He has been working as a Soldiers’ Counsel at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, DC, for the past year as a mobilized US Army Reservist. On June 14th, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal by the Northern Regional Medical Commander, Major General Carla Hawley-Bowland, for his “unwavering professionalism, commitment.”

Besides being an officer in the US Army Reserve since 1980, Franco has lived in Worcester for 22 years where he has practiced law. He has worked as an attorney with the Law Offices of Joseph J. Candidate Wants to Improve Small Business Climate in Massachusetts

FRANCO’S PLAN TO REVIVE THE ECONOMY

Candidate Wants to Improve Small Business Climate in Massachusetts

Paxton, MA…Today Paul Franco, Republican candidate for State Representative in the Thirteenth Worcester District announced that he will be a strong advocate for the small business community on Beacon Hill and that he will fight for real reforms that strengthen our jobs market.

“For months we have watched Beacon Hill officials tirelessly bicker about expanding gambling in the Commonwealth. It’s too bad that they could not put aside the political gamesmanship. Lost in the shuffle was the opportunity to revive our economy by instituting policies that help the small business community,” said Franco.

According to Franco three out of every 4 news jobs are created by small businesses. He strongly believes that a top priority for our next State Representative must be to help pass policies and reforms that reduce government burdens on these job creators. He plans on taking a proactive role in helping small businesses in order to put of this district back to work.

The Franco small business plan includes:

· Rolling back the sales tax increase to make Massachusetts once again competitive with other states like New Hampshire.

· Reforming unemployment insurance to reduce this heavy financial burden on small business

· Keeping utility costs low and waive sales taxes on energy efficient equipment

· Prohibiting more health care mandates that increase the costs of insurance

“With an unemployment rate of 8.8%, we need to encourage small business development. Unfortunately, for years Massachusetts state government has treated the business community like the goose that lays golden eggs. And they killed the goose with high taxes, more mandates and more regulations,” said Franco. “As a father of 6, I want my children to have the same economic opportunities that I have had. Like so many parents, I don’t want them forced out of the Commonwealth due to poor economic conditions.”
